Fostering connection, deepening knowledge, and encouraging support for a diverse constituency of new music practitioners and appreciators in the United States. Black and white became colour, photos became film, mono became stereo. The Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble PNME presents compelling and memorable performances of contemporary music by: giving world-class performances, commissioning and premiering new works by living artists, disseminating and promoting new works beyond their premieres through recording and touring, constantly reexamining and exploring the way in which new music is presented, playing a leading role in creating and expanding a progressive arts community. These artists from around the world are chosen through a rigorous audition process. Our concerts are evening-length, non-stop productions with no intermissions or breaks for applause. Repertoire works together so that each concert is itself one new, fully formed work of art — like you expect when viewing a film or theatre production.
